Now that we are back into ‘business as usual mode’ and the holiday cheer is put aside, reality has set in. Is today much different than before the holiday cheer? Is today happier because it’s a new calendar year? Is today filled with more of the same or is it filled with infinite possibilities?
What now? Now is all we truly have. We can reminisce about the past whether those memories are loving or fearful. We can dream about the future whether those dreams are of excitement or of dread. Our past is behind us, our future ahead, and yet our NOW often gets overlooked.
In this very now moment you have the ability to stand on the side of love or fall for fear.
In this now moment you have the opportunity to forgive or hold onto hurt
In this now moment you have the opportunity to see yourself as victim or victor.
So whether this now moment finds you celebrating life or dealing with a challenge, know this is your moment to truly live. It’s your moment to smile. It’s your moment to cry. It’s your moment to inspire and be inspired. It’s yours…when…NOW.
For the next week, I invite you to appreciate your NOW by:
Being okay with it not being perfect. If you find yourself dealing with hurt, loss, or anything that doesn’t bring you joy, know that in this now moment, that is okay too. We all go through challenges in our lives that allow us to grow and expand into even more that we want. We end relationships and have a better understanding of what we do want for the next one. We leave jobs knowing better what we do want in our next job. We move through the loss of loved ones holding onto the memories while knowing we will be okay and see them again. Allow yourself to feel the imperfection through gentleness and compassion while holding on that as time goes by the depth of the imperfection fades and you see the value in the experience.
Appreciating everything. Appreciate the bed you woke up in. Appreciate the weather as if you are feeling it that means you are alive. Appreciate the smiles, the hugs, the laughter you share with those you come in contact with. Appreciate the little and big things in your day and allow them to grow.
Mostly, my wish for you is the understanding that whether or not it’s a new year, a new month, a new week, a new day, or simply a new moment, you have the opportunity to cherish it. You have the opportunity to see the fragility, the preciousness, the love of life and make all of your next nows more vibrant, more loving, more kind, and simply more you.
Until next time, when? NOW!
