As we find ourselves in the giving season of the holidays, I encourage you to keep giving from your heart.
“For it is in the giving that we receive.” – Francis of Assisi
I love the above quote as I have found it so true in so many ways. To me, a hug is the truest form of giving and receiving and I know when I am offering free hugs, I am blessed with receiving them too. I leave a free hug event on an incredible high as I’m reminded of the kindness that exists in the world. I’m reminded that people truly want to be helpers more than hurters.
Sometimes when we find ourselves in a challenging situation, giving is put on the back burner as we try to just keep going in our own struggles. I’ve found though that often by giving to others during my struggles, it has given me a respite of what I’m dealing with and it allows me to see the bigger picture of love.
Whether you find yourself in celebration or sorrow this holiday season, I encourage you to be giving by:
Giving compliments to those in your life you care about. They of course should be heartfelt, but begin to share what you love about them more than what you feel they are lacking or should change.
Giving your attention to what you want in your life rather than what you don’t want. Focus on love, kindness, compassion, health, abundance, and happiness.
Giving positive action to things you would like to change in your life and/or the world. It’s easy to complain and moan about what you don’t like and feel that it’s out of your control, but everything is energy. Do you want to feed loving energy with kindness or negative energy with complaint?
Giving of your time to an organization that inspires you. Even if you have a busy schedule, you can find time to be of service to others. Just a couple hours a month will make a huge difference to those in need.
Giving of your resources. Donate financial funding to organizations that you believe in. Just imagine if we each gave a $1 or $10 to organizations that we admired. It all adds up, so give what you can to people or organizations you appreciate.
Giving to YOU! Make sure to be gentle and kind with yourself too. Whether you gift yourself a massage, a hot bath, or just some time to relax, giving to yourself allows you to be in a space to give to others in even bigger ways.
Giving what you want to receive. If you want more love in the world… give it. If you want more kindness in the world… give it. If you want more compassion in the world… give it. If you want more…. (I think you have the picture).
Mostly, my wish for you this week is to feel the power of giving whether it’s a kind thought, word, or action. You simply never know who needs it most… and that person might be you!
Until next time, I give you a BIG HUG.
PS – Tuesday, Nov. 28th is Giving Tuesday where people donate to their favorite charities. I would be honored if you would consider giving Positive Focus a donation of $1 or more. CLICK HERE to donate to our Giving Tuesday that was setup by my good friend Jackie.
I am a gift to this world and share my gifts with others.
