Do you like getting free things? I mean, really, who doesn’t?! I sure love getting things for free, or getting a surprise gift. When you go shopping are you looking for the best deals? Are you someone who often talks about how expensive things are as being ‘too’ expensive and getting frustrated or even angry at the cost of something?
I used to be in a Law of Attraction group and one of their sayings was “I love free and free loves me.” It was a catchy and fun thing to say. And focusing on that, certainly free things popped up. However, I also started seeing a trend of the ‘Groupon’ thinking and expecting services half price when purchasing and yet not wanting to discount your own services.
Trust me, I can get into this trap as well as there are certainly things that I deem ‘too expensive’ and I can sometimes stay in that space for a while when I’ve decided something is unjustly too much money. Then I remind myself that money is one form of an energy exchange. I can choose to participate or not, but I don’t have to judge the amount the item costs or the service costs from someone else. I simply get to say yes or no. So take the stress out of the money exchange but choosing from a space of love rather than lack.
Move forward, I encourage you to free your mind on the money exchange by:
Taking ownership of it. Rather than saying things are too expensive, be okay with it simply being more than you are willing to pay. Check in with the difference it feels between saying ‘that’s too expensive’ and ‘I’m choosing not to purchase that.”
Giving thanks. Yes, FREE is good and fun. Say thank you when you get free things. Appreciate it and celebrate it. It’s when you start to expect free rather than celebrate it that you step into a space of lack thinking rather than abundant thinking.
Affirming you always have enough. Now we all have bills, so money is absolutely important and truly our friend and not our foe. Only you know what you can in this moment of reality afford or not. However, I encourage you to start getting excited about having plenty of money so you can pay full price on whatever it is. Again, getting a bargain is great – just make sure you are coming from a space of appreciation rather than lack of having enough.
Knowing what you give comes back to you. If you give of yourself, you will receive as well. Now you may not receive a tit for tat from the person you gave to, but I promise you in another way you will receive from the Universe.
Value yourself. I want to be clear that I am not asking you to start offering your services or your money to others for free. I am asking you to think about your feelings around the energy exchange of money and how you approach it. Set your fees exactly what is comfortable with you and you will attract the audience who is comfortable with those fees. Discount when it feels right to you. Give freely when it feels right to you. Only YOU can feel like you are being taken advantage of, the other person is responsible for how they feel. You can give and give and give and wake up feeling full. Or you can give and give and give and wake up feeling taken advantage of. Check in with how YOU feel around it.
Value others. Treat people fairly. You can always choose not to pay for the service in question, however don’t assume the other person is trying to take advantage of you as you don’t know their story, you only know yours. So treat yourself and others with love, compassion and respect – especially when it comes to the energy exchange of money.
Mostly, my wish for you this week is remember when you step into fear, you step out of love and you so deserve to be full of love. When something doesn’t feel good, it’s simply telling you it’s time to love yourself up. Why? Because YOU matter!
Until next time, whether it’s free or full price – give thanks for the abundance in your life.
I give and receive freely
