I’ll be happy when I have a great job.
I’ll be happy when I am in a relationship.
I’ll be happy when I have more time.
I’ll be happy when I lose weight.
I’ll be happy when it’s the weekend.
I’ll be happy when, when, when.
Have you ever thought about any of the above statements? Perhaps you haven’t thought about them exactly in those words, and yet if you are waiting for your ultimate happiness to happen at the destination you strive for rather than along the journey, you are in some facet living these statements. I know I sure have from going through my week on auto pilot waiting for the weekend of fun plans to focusing on the challenge I was facing rather than seeing the good in that challenge.
Happiness is big and small. It is subtle and epic. It is in celebrations. It is in waking up each day. It is in getting another chance to love bigger and bolder. It is in the ability to forgive and to accept the forgiveness of others. It is also in our sorrow, fear, and yes, even in unhappiness as when you aware that our contrasting experiences allow us to fully appreciate the magic and beauty in life, then happiness is elevated. Happiness isn’t an absence of fearful thoughts, words and actions, it is an acceptance of them being part of our journey.
For the next week, I invite you to search for happiness by:
Knowing that other people enhance your happiness, they don’t make it. You create your happiness through appreciation and gratitude for what is and allow that to make what’s to come even better.
Choosing people and experiences to spend you time with that uplift and inspire you to live in deeper happiness.
Appreciating the people in your life, even the ones that seemingly make life challenging as they play a role too, even if it’s to show you how you don’t want to be or feel.
If you really feel you need to search outside of yourself for happiness, than I highly recommend you go see the movie Hector and the Search of Happiness as it beautifully weaves (and some scenes are tough) how the ups and downs of life create our magically messy happy life.
My biggest wish for you is to understand that you deserve ultimate happiness of the grandest kind. You deserve to wake up each morning with a big smile on your face happy to be alive regardless if your day is the start of a grand adventure or what seemingly seems like another Monday morning. You deserve to fill your life with people who appreciate life and appreciate you!
Until next time, you are the star of your movie, choose yours to be an epic happy love story.
